Salaam, who is behind the website?
How can we trust the publishings, without knowing the people behind it
WS. The sources used for the Shariah screening are detailed within each assessment page, for instance, for Uniswap we source the rulings from:
Marhaba DiFi’s Shariah governance board includes Dr Farukh Habib (co-Founder of Alif Technologies), Mufti Billal Omarjee (Imam of a London Mosque and Director at Shariah Experts Ltd) & Dr Mohammad Abdullah (Head of Shariah at Habib bank), all of whom have credible experience in this space.
Sharlife is a Malaysian financial information site that has Mubarok Shah, a Certified Professional Shariah Auditor as its Shariah Executive. He has extensive experience across stocks, IPO and financial products.
Crypto Halal has a team of 10 that has assessed 100’s of projects over the past 12 months and personally certified a few organisation as Shariah compliant including BlokBot, Islamicoin and Coinerr.
Islamic Finance Guru is an award winning blog focussed on all things Islamic and finance related, including of course crypto. It now boasts over 100,000 monthly visitors and while the core team does not include Shariah Scholars, they are clearly well versed in finance and rely on the likes of Mufti Faraz Adam, who leads some of their Islamic finance training courses, for guidance.
Each source has its own team of professionals (naturally some are more credible than others) that use their own screening methodology to determine the halal/ haram status of a coin.
Just as a disclosure, we do not have any affiliation with any of the sources used. We simply aggregate this information to help Muslims make informed decisions, but please remember there is no overall Islamic authority or body that can pass fatwas for all Muslims globally. The responsibility is on us individuals to do our own research based on whats available and come to a conclusion.
If you disagree with any of the opinions please feel free to share/comment so others may see different opinions and learn iA.
